When things took a turn for the worse in the middle of 2008 I asked myself what could Donghia and Bergamo do, what could I do, to help our clients, and in the process help our companies. So, I sat down and, drawing from my 25 plus years in our industry that I love, I put together a presentation of ideas and suggestions that might help small design firms as they were dealing with the same economic issues as our companies. These ideas have come from interior designers and are for interior designers. The results have been most gratifying, and as I have travelled from city to city I have met wonderful new people and renewed many friendships, and have become very grateful for the support and enthusiastic welcome I have received from America’s Luxury Interior Design Community. And it is just that- a community. Designers across our country share common values and have common interests, and are a fascinating and interesting group of talented individuals. I am proud to call many of them my friends, and honored to be able to say that.
This blog serves as a way to get ideas out into the design community that might help designers thrive amid this recession. In addition, I hope to help create a community of interior designers, sort of “A Glass Half Full” community. I welcome your feedback and comments and hope you will share any tips you’ve learned as well.
